Creative juices...or not??

Some days it seems like my creative juices are over flowing and then there are other days where the well runs dry.

I just started my bib line...if you can call it that..LOL...a few months ago and now I have 17 listed with about 5 more designed and ready to do. I guess it is doing pretty well, but the burp cloths are still a great seller.

I finally listed a few more bibs. Here are a few of my favorites: Click on the picture to see the listing.

This last week my creative juices were flowing and now they are dry....I think I will take a small break and see in my brain can recover and find some new thoughts and ideas...

Quilt festival waddling quilt

I am fairly new to doing quilts. I got hooked on them a couple of years ago. I decided that I should put my 'talent' to good use (plus my family didn't need any more quilts and I wanted to make another one). So, I made this quilt for my parents relay for like team. The theme is 'sports' and they named their team the ducks.....so my brain started working. I got the grid paper out and started drawing.
With my husbands help we came up a football style quilt. Simple design. I machine appliqued the helmets and 'Oregon' and 'Ducks' (that is with my embroidery machine). I 'regularly' appliqued the duck feet and hash marks.

The center of the quilt says 'waddling for a cure.' I wanted to add a bit of whimsy to the quilt. It was also embroidered on there.

A closer look at the end zone.

A look at the bottom, yes that is one of my little ones hands holding it down, it was windy that day.
I quilted the 'field' in straight lines to replicate the white lines on a football field. The end zones were stippled as well as the sidelines.
The back is a vintage sheet I picked up a long time ago. The colors were just perfect.

Thanks for stopping by. I do hope that this quilt brings a bit on money to help the cause for cancer.

Here is the link to the other quilts in the festival. I can't wait to see them all.

baby quilt - quilt festival

A newbies version of a baby quilt. I was lucky enough to win a set of fat quarters from a wonderful blog so I decided to make a baby quilt. It was from the Joel Dewberry Notting hill collection (tangerine). I was over the moon when I won this. I got to my graph paper again and started to draw. It didn't take long to come up with what I wanted to make. A simple baby quilt.

After I was finished I went to the store for backing and was so excited to find this fabric. I felt like it worked perfectly.

I am totally in love with the pinks and oranges....so pretty!
I used a variegated thread for the stipple quilting. I found one with light pinks and orange. I love the final result especially on the solid maroon color.
A silly shot my kids wanted to take. From the floor as they hold up one side.

Of course nothing says baby quilt like two crazies on a quilt. :)

I am not sure who the lucky person who is going to get the quilt is yet, but I am sure I will find someone soon!!

Here is a link to the quilt festival.

I can't wait to see all the quilts that so many wonderful quilters have put together.

Pillowcase bananza!

So this week I have gone pillowcase crazy.

It all started when my husband came into the fabric store with me!! He saw the new space invaders fabric and asked that something for him be made with it....so I thought pillowcase!! Then I saw the pac-man fabric and thought my boys love pac-man I can make them a pillow cases! My daughter felt left out so I let her pick out fabric and the rest well as they say is history!!

I think that my little ladybug did a good job with matching the fabric, she picked out all of those, I think she has a future in fabric crafting :) :)

I know that it is wal-mart fabric, but the tinkerbell fabric is super cute!!

This is the space invaders pillow case. My husband cracks me up.....but I was super happy to make him something!!

It is a little eye boggling, but I like it. The cool part is that is really does make our bedroom!!

This is the pillowcase for both the boys....so double this and you got the picture!! :) I didn't do the main part in the pac-man partly for money reasons and part because I found an embroidary for my machine......

This is in the center of the boys pillowcase. I think it turned out pretty cute!!

And the whole!!

I had fun and the great thing is that they are super fast to make!!

A Week of Rest

Well last week was me and my husbands week of vacation. My wonderful mother-in-law takes the four kids for an entire week. My husband took the week off of work and we just had fun.

We watched Green lantern on Monday. I went for Ryan Reynolds, he went for the comic book sci-fi! :) :). It was good, I really did enjoy it! Then my sweetie took me to the fabric store and target. He is a keeper.

On Tuesday we went bowling. It had been so long since we went. It felt like we were in college dating again. I won the first game. He won the second leaving us exactly tied on pins dropped, so of course we played a third game where he very much beat me!!

On Wed we went to a place called bullwinkles, it is a family fun center. We played miniature golf and silly ticket arcade games. We were able to 'buy' the kids a woopie cushion, a jump rope and a spikey ball with all our tickets :) :)

That night we went to the 'cheap' (second run) theater and saw the Lincoln Lawyer. It was fun, I like those who can outsmart who type of movies. The language was rough, a bit of violence, and on 'personal' scene that could of been done without, but good altogether.

We did nothing on Thursday, well we went nowhere. We played video games, watched tv (catching up on some shows) and just relaxed.

Friday we didn't do much. Although my husband isn't to into garage sales, he went with me anyway....love that man. He did take me to a cute little shop around here that has vendors of all sorts of misc stuff. Mostly older stuff redone and really cute decor. I love walking around there.

The kids came back on Saturday afternoon. I really did miss them, but had a super great time with just my love!

On a side note, I got a lot of sewing done too. I finished a quilt top, pictures to come later. I got a pair of pajamas done for my daughter and cut out a bunch of other stuff. Now, it is back to reality and life with four crazy kids :) :)
